Here is a spiral galaxy about 37.000.000 light years away from us, NGC 5055 ( M 63), named Sunflower. Its diameter is about 98.000 light years, which is comparable to the diameter of our Milky Way ( 100.000 light years ). It contains a central disk surrounded by a large number of short spiral fragments, and a broad structure of spiral arms dotted with nodules of star-forming regions. They are interspersed with bands of cosmic dust and decorated with pink star-forming regions. Near the

" halo" of the galaxy in 2011, a stream of stars was discovered, likely formed by the absorption of a minor galaxy over the past 5 billion years.
